rev crumptonClyde Raymond Crumpton began participating in youth activities at West Presbyterian Church, located in west St. Louis City in 1967. In 1970, as a college student Clyde Crumpton was invited to participate in Boy Scout Troop 5 at West (one of the oldest established troops in St. Louis).  In 1972, he became Scout Master and served in that capacity for two years. Upon college graduation he was employed with the Monsanto Company in agricultural research and human behavior studies, and later with the Ford Motor Company in Hazelwood, MO, as a Director of Transportation.  In 1980 Clyde left the corporate world and returned to family business in clothing manufacturing and construction trucking. In 1982 he accepted the “Call” to ministry

During the summer of 1995, Reverend Crumpton was extended the invitation to preach at West Presbyterian Church which, at the time, was without a Pastor.  He accepted and served in that capacity until 1996.  During this period, he was encouraged by Reverend Dr. William G. Gillespie, Pastor of Cote Brilliante Presbyterian Church, to consider seminary and to pursue the requirements for certification and ordination in the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.  In addition, during this time, Reverend Dr. Sandra Jordan was “called” to Pastor West Presbyterian Church.

Reverend Crumpton continued to serve in ministry at West Presbyterian Church under Dr. Jordan. In 1998, Dr. Jordan resigned her position as Pastor of West.  Upon her resignation, she recommended to the Session of West, that Clyde be allowed to serve as an intern or temporary pastoral leader of West, under the supervision of Reverend Gillespie.  The Session accepted her recommendation and the Presbytery approved. In 1999, Reverend Crumpton completed the Master of Divinity Program at Eden Theological Seminary, in St. Louis and successfully completed certification with the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.

Reverend Crumpton held the position as intern/temporary pastoral leader for West Presbyterian Church until the year 2000.  Reverend Crumpton then accepted the position of Executive Director with the West Presbyterian Senior Center, where he managed senior social activities and transportation, home delivered meals, and in-home care.  This senior citizens program served over 700 seniors daily, with a staff of fifty employees.  He served in this capacity until 2005, when the governing body of West Presbyterian Church (the Session) made the decision to close the program.

When opportunities to serve at West Presbyterian Church ended, Reverend Crumpton accepted the offer to serve at the New Sunny Mount Baptist Church, as Pastoral Assistant and Administrator.  Reverend Crumpton held this position for seven years, through January 2014.

In June 2013 Reverend Crumpton accepted the invitation to serve as First Responder of Cote Brilliante Presbyterian Church to fill the pulpit and to serve the church part-time.  Initially, this assignment was for six weeks, but lasted over eight months.  In February 2014, the Committee on Ministry of the Presbytery of Giddings-Lovejoy advised and approved Reverend Crumpton for the full-time position and title of “Stated Supply Pastor” of Cote Brilliante.    He was officially ordained and installed as the Pastor of Cote Brilliante March 15, 2016.

Reverend Crumpton is married to Jean Crumpton and they have three adult children and two grandchildren.
